    Question

Hey, I'm about to start writing a dark romantic comedy and I just wanted to see what you guys think about it and any advice you might have.

Ok, it's starts off when Randy Hudson, depressed as usual, is digging around in some old boxes. He's looking at pictures of his childhood, back when he had friends, because it cheers him up. It seems Randy moved off to go to Film School and has been all alone the whole time. As he sets a box on the ground, a voice from inside chirps "Hi there, how are you?". He opens the box and finds his old Laquacious Larry doll. He begins to joke around by talking to the doll. But soon it gets more serious. He finds that by talking to the doll, he can purge his deepest, darkest feelings (we learn a lot about his depression by the things he tells it). Then, things get weird...
The doll begins to talk back, and walk around Randy's apartment. He becomes a real person to Randy. Then, the terror begins. One morning, Randy wakes up next to a strange man. Randy screams and kicks him out of the house. It turns out that last night the doll went out and got himself a man. Randy convinces himself that that was all a dream. But then, the next morning, while getting dressed, he opens up his closet and finds a dead body. An female investigator comes to his door (the dead person's car was parked right outside his apartment). Randy instantly falls in love. As the romance grows, and the body count rises, Laquacious Larry begins to rule Randy's life more and more. Can Randy finally score a date while hiding bodies and trying to keep Larry from killing his true love? (By the way, Larry is really Randy's second personality).

Ok, that's all I have for now. I was just wondering if anyone has some advice or ideas for it. Thanks

By the way, in the end, the woman does find out about the killings, but swears to Randy that she'll love him forever, even if he is a homicidal maniac. When the truth about the murders gets out, Randy gets commited. The woman decides to follow her heart, so she dismembers a guy and pleads insanity, so that she can be with Randy forever.

Ha ha, appeals to my dark side.
Er, film school? It's not an autobiography is it? eek
I like the psychological aspect of the dual personality, but it's a tragedy not a comedy in the classical sense, as even if She's committed to the same asylum, they'll never be less than a padded cell wall away from each other frown
(I suppose they can listen to each other's ECT screams - how romantic)

Go for it, and good luck!

    Cheers
    Paul

PS is it Laquacious or Loquacious?

    Talking

Hey, Thanks. I'll try to make it lean closer toward a tragedy, in it's on demented little way. There would be a lot of drama depth besides what I talked about in the basic summary, like the woman is dating the chief of police, and he date rapes her. She goes crying to Randy, and that's how they eventually hook up, that pisses of the Chief of Police and he takes her off the case and has Randy thrown in the institution.

I think this is a pretty funny story. I don't know what kind of budget you have in place for it but with some patience and alot of help and ingenuity you should be able to pull off the doll sequences realistically enough. Hell I'd go see it ! Good luck!

Good, but try not to make the doll look too much like Chucky, or that ventriloquist thing off the Kiss FM ads. Use a different type of doll.

    Matt.
